White lettering on colored paper

Hi, I have been trying all morning to remember how to make my type white on a colored paper. I opened a text box in word and edited it but didn't work. I am forgetting something. Can anyone help?

did you select the white color instead of black or another color?

Yes I did. I chose no fill for text box and no line then I chose white as color. Wrenna
